#TheReadingQuest Sign-up Post w/TBR

So, I found out late in the game, (in bed when I should have been sleeping before work and not on twitter) about a fun reading challenge called The Reading Quest.  In this challenge you can choose a character, and much like an RPG game, you follow that character's path, reading books as its quest earning points along the way.  I know I am explaining this poorly, but DO check out the site to see the rules and how the quest runs.

I have chosen the path as Mage:

(artwork by CW of Read, Think, Ponder )

1 word titled book -  Nyxia (ARC) by Scott Reintgen
Magic book - The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
Book based off Mythology -  The Lightning Thief by Rick Roirdan
1st in a series - Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
In a different world - Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll

After this I will try to move to another character or try the mini quests. I’ll edit this post if I get that far.

Em's Read-O-Rama Round 6 TBR

This will be the first Read-a-thon I have done, so my goal is to get as many books read more than check off all the challenges. That said, I have picked some books that DO cover some, if not most, of the challenges.

I am trying to read 7 books (or more)

The Union by S. Usher Evens

While this doesn't cross off anything on my challenges, it does finish out the series I have been wanting to do since I started reading The Island as a ARC.

The Owl Keeper by Christine Brodien -Jones

This also checks off the animal AND the going in blind boxes (although I have a few that covers the going in blind)

Song Quest by Katherine Roberts

This checks off the blind read AND the main character with the same initial, AND first in a series.

 Fairest by Gail Carson Levine

Nothing special but I do enjoy this author's work for a fun quick read

Starflight by Melissa Landers

This checks off the first in a series, R.A.M.A. in the author's name, AND my own challenge - finish a bloody ARC that has been collecting dust. This is not Pokemon. The goal in not to catch them all and then keep them in balls and never do anything with them.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Something I have been wanting to read. And now I can!

White Sand by Brandon Sanderson

New author to me. (not a challenge) Start of a series.  Umm buddy read with Mel??? Any way you look at it, it's on the list.

January Wrap-Up + February TBR

My goal was to try and do a review for every single book I would read this year. I come to realized that I wouldn't be able to do that. I have been reading to many books lately that it has been hard for me to write up a review for them. I think what I will be doing instead will be to write a review to books that I really enjoyed during the month. Also, I am hoping to start posting other bloggish things during the month.

Some of the books I selected are also comic book trades and graphic novels so that is something else that help out. I am just in such a mood to read that I just want to take advantage of it. Hopefully I don't burn my self out in the reading area.

What did you guys ended up reading in January and what are your plans to read in the month of February?

Top Ten books on our Spring TBR

Mel's Picks

Uprooted by Naomi Novik - I heard so many good things about this book. Also Brandon Sanderson recommended to read this book. One of the best book from last year.

Bands of Mourning (Mistborn #6) by Brandon Sanderson - What more can I say it's Brandon Sanderson. Love everything he writes and I am yet to read it.

Calamity by Brandon Sanderson - Last book in the Steelheart trilogy. Can't wait to see how this story ends.

Morning Star by Pierce Brown - Another ending to another trilogy that enjoyed. This will be an interesting read. This trilogy has brought out all sort of emotions.

Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen - I was one of the few that actually liked the first book. It did give me mix feeling but I do wish to see where this series will lead to. I heard interesting things about this book and I am excited to see where this story leads to.

Em's Picks

The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye- As I posted in my Stacking the Shelves, I got this as a ARC, and now the more I hear about it from other people, the more I want to READ IT RIGHT NOW!

The Island by S. Usher Evans - Another ARC that I am excited to read. In fact this will be done by March 31st. (Which is after the beginning of spring)

Infinity (Chronicles of Nick #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon - I've been too long without an urban fantasy in my hands. Going with an author I love.

Before the Fall by Noah Hawley - Also been too long without a good thriller in my hands. I hope this is a good one.

Glory over Everything: Beyond The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom And why not finish with a historical novel? See, you don't have a reason not too either.

Let us know what you have on your list. Or what we should add to ours.
